FC Schalke 04 - Borussia Dortmund, Bundesliga

The Royal Blues and Black-and-Yellows will face head-to-head in the event for the intermediate second place on Saturday. The actual winner of the match in Gelsenkirchen will be one step closer to the vice-championship and a place in the Champions League.

In the first round match, Schalke changed the tide of the match against BVB. Under the guidance of Peter Bosz, Borussia had the confident 4:0 lead at the end of the first half, but after the break, they reached a turning point. Domenico Tedesco gave his team the right motivation during the break and his team started the chase. The first goal was scored by Burgstaller, then by Harit and Caligiuri. In the 4th minute of the injury time, the centre back Naldo cut high shines having ended this unforgettable Revierderby 4:4.

Schalke’s six-game winning streak has unexpectedly finished in the last round. Domenico Tedesco’s squad acted with a poor concentration in the match against HSV, which resulted in a 2:3 defeat of the former. Hamburg’s misfortune may bring benefits for Schalke 04 in anticipation of the upcoming derby. Right in front of the home stands, the club must rehabilitate with the win over their major rival.

Peter Stöger suffered his first Bundesliga’s defeat as the BVB coach two rounds ago. His team was completely destroyed in the Klassiker against FC Bayern — 0:6. Borussia managed to demonstrate a necessary reaction in the last round — the Westfalens outplayed VfB Stuttgart at home with the score 3:0, having conquered the third place in the table. Stöger’s eleven has to follow the example of the past event to profile themselves in the match against Schalke.

Veltins-Arena hosts the match on April 15 at 15:00.
