Here at Stakers, we like to help our players out when we can. That's why we do our Review of the Week. We know that some players like high variance games with a lot of extra features, while other slot enthusiasts enjoy three-reel fruit games with a low variance level. And there are a ton of people in between!
So, once a week we pick one of our new games and give it a go. We play one credit per spin for two hours and then let you know how things went.
This week, we choose Wild Cats Multiline to review. We picked it because the game dynamic seemed so different than most other games.
When you start out you'll notice the icons are spades, hearts, diamonds, clubs and for some reason a circular jewel. Other icons are all, as you would expect from the title, big cats.
Obviously the goal is to get three in a row. But here's where the interesting game dynamic comes in. There are always six reels. That said the number of rows changes with each spin. Sometimes there are only two rows. Sometimes you have as many as seven rows. And you have each and every variant in between.
The more rows you get the easier it will be for you to get a win. Good luck winning if you end up with only two rows. This continues into the bonus game, so don't feel like you are going to get seven rows each time.
During the normal game wins are distributed the way you'd expect. But get at least three scatter icons and you'll enter the bonus game. This is where things get interesting. You'll be assigned a number of free spins.
While you play the free spins round look out for the lion – he's wild. Not only that, but every time he appears on the board he'll scratch some icons away. Then icons higher up on the screen will fall down into play. The lion will stay on the board for all of your remaining free spins.
For us, this meant that at the end of our free spins we had five wild lions on the board, making fairly decent wins super easy. Out of all the times we played the free spins round, our biggest total win was 106.80 credits. Not bad for a one-credit bet!
You also have jackpot icons, although they very rarely turn up. They are either for the Daily Drop jackpot – which has to be won by someone every day – or for the Mega Drop. Both go up continually while you play. Sadly, we didn't get either jackpot but it's nice to know they are there. The counter is always on the screen, but you can hide it if you want a bigger playing area.
The game maker claims that Wild Cats Multiline is a high variance game. We didn't find that at all. The wins were constant, but not great. We found this to be a medium variance game.
The high variance might refer to the jackpots, but who expects to actually win one of those?
Overall we give Wild Cats Multiline four out of five stars. We subtract a star because quite honestly, the wins were not that impressive.
We do recommend this game for people who like medium variance slots. If you are looking for something high variance, there are a lot of other options out there.
