Welcome back to Stakers. We are here for the players and want to help them find the perfect game to play. After all, no one game is for everyone. What might be an excellent choice for one person would be awful for another.
That's why every week we spend two hours playing a game and then tell you what we think of it. That way you'll have a pretty good idea going in whether or not it's going to be the right one for you or not.
This week we decided to look at Thor – Hammer Time! We honestly mostly chose this because people are still talking about Endgame and we thought it would be fun to see what Nolimitcity had done with the God of Thunder. Also, it reminds us of the MC Hammer song.
When you come to Thor – Hammer Time you'll get the usual five-by-three grid layout. The icons are various runes and then axes, goblets, Thor's hammer, etc.
As with most games your goal is to get three items in a row and see how much they pay out.
Right off the bat you'll notice three symbols to the right of the grid - one 1, one W, and three Ws. This will come into play in the bonus game.
During regular play, at any time, Hamer Time can happen. When this happens all of your non-rune items will turn into Thor's hammer. This offers a really good chance at making a decent win.
Then there are the bonus rounds. There are bright purple icons. Get at least three on the board to kick this off. This is when free spins start and those symbols to the right of the screen become interesting.
During free spins Thor can show up on reel five. When he does those symbols will start glowing. They'll end up landing on either the one – which acts as a multiplier or the W – which will have Thor throw up one wild on the screen or the triple W which will cause Thor to throw three wilds onto the screen.
What matters is that these wilds are sticky as Thor moves down the reel. So if he starts out on top you'll end up with three spins with the wilds sticky. And each spin gives him the chance to put a multiplier or additional sticky wilds onto the board.
With this in place we managed to score an impressive 123.70-credit win on a one-credit bet. That's pretty much as good as it gets for any online slot machine.
The problem is that we'd lost quite a bit trying to get to the free spins. So at the end of the day, we were just a few credits up from the bankroll we started with.
That's not bad, but it does indicate that Thor - Hammer Time is a very high variance game.
That will be great news for people who love high variance games. And this one is seriously fun to play. That said if you have a low bankroll or are just not comfortable with this level of risk you'll probably want to try a lower variance game.
Four out of five stars is our score. We took away a star because we thought the runes were dumb. There are a lot of other Norse icons they could have used. Other than that, one of the most interesting and fun slots we've tried. We really liked it a lot.
