Cazino Cosmos – yes, that Z is not a typo – is the latest game released by YGGDRASIL that Stakers is offering our members. Because YGGDRASIL has a reputation for providing interesting games, we decided it will be our “look of the week.”
For our look of the week, we take a game and spend roughly two hours putting it through its paces. For this game we bet two credits per spin and took a look at what happened. We do this so we can tell you what the game is like and you can make up your own mind about playing it.
In the main game you have spades, hearts, diamonds, clubs, and a collection of half-animal, half-human men. Score up three in a row and you'll get a win. But this is not as easy as it seems – or as easy as it is in other games. The wins are few and far between, but do tend to have a decent payoff when they come.
The game starts by telling you that six wilds have been added to your collection. These are placed above the second, third and fourth reels. There are meters above all the reels. Sometimes when a wild card lands on a reel, she will blow a kiss up to the meter. This is added to your wild collection. When one of your meters fills up, you get 10 free spins with sticky wilds, just like you do when you get three spin icons.
There is a difference, however. Whenever a wild lands one reel over or one reel under the pay lines, the existing wilds can lift that wild up onto the board. There it will become sticky. This is the secret to getting really big wins – and when it pays off, it pays off huge. We managed to win 582.20 credits using this system.
Get the Free Spins icon on three of the reels and you'll see a pop up telling you that you've won 10 free spins. During this free spin round, all wilds will be sticky. The reels spin and you'll get some fairly decent rewards. We won 114.40 credits on this free spin round. The difference between this and filling up your wild meters is that the wild girls cannot lift wilds from off the board onto the board.
What we have to say is both the collection wilds and the Free Spins features are triggered very rarely, just like the wins on the regular pay table. This is why we call this a very high variance game.
At one point we were down well over 300 credits. Yes, when we landed the 582.20 credit win we were back in the black – but if we had just walked away while we were down, we would have not been as enthusiastic about this fame.
It's sort of fun to see a real high variance game come along down the pike. The current trend has been for low to medium variance games. This is definitely not that in our experience.
That said, there is a lot of fun that can be had in high variance games if you can afford to keep playing them. We were thrilled when we filled up our collection wilds and scored a big win – much more so than we were with other games we have reviewed.
Overall, we give this game two scores – five stars out of five for fans of high variance games, and three stars out of five for people who are not familiar with high variance games.
