Caveman Bob is one of the newest games released on Stakers. Because it seems to have new gameplay mechanics, we thought we'd put it through its paces with our weekly review.
When we review a game we play it for two hours. In this case we bet .60 credits per spin. We do this weekly test on new games to help our users figure out if a game will be right for them.
When you open up the Caveman Bob video slot, it shows you some of its options and then takes you to the main board. Here you have a five-by-three reel set up. The icons are spades, hearts, diamonds, and clubs, and then various animals from caveman times, including a wolf and a rhino.
As usual, your goal is to score at least three of a given symbol in a row, starting with the leftmost reel. That’s when you win!
We found the basic wins on the reels to be pretty few and far between. And when we did land on them, they didn't pay off that well. That's fine, however, because of the bonus games.
Randomly, the board will shrink. Then Caveman Bob will appear on the left side of the screen. He will coax a little critter out from underneath the game board, and offer it a treat.
If it rejects the treat, the game goes back to normal. But if he accepts the treat, Caveman Bob picks him up and puts him in his bag. Then the player is given three choices of what he or she wants to have happen.
We tried all three, and we have to say that we prefer the icon that looks like a spinning wheel. When you select this, you'll be given a free spin with giant blocks of icons. These icons give out huge, easy wins. On our first try, we won 45 credits.
Overall, this feature happens so often that it completely renders moot the lower wins from the main board. In fact, once we got our first big win, we stayed in the positive for the rest of our hour and 45 minutes of play.
The other bonus feature that works well is when the game will randomly drop three entire rows of wild cards on the board. This makes for a quick win that pays out big amounts. On one of these, we won 38 credits.
All of this makes the game very fun to play. We will call it a medium variance game, because of the frequency of the big wins. They more than balance out the losses on regular spins.
We know a lot of you like medium variance games and if that describes your preference, this game will be amazing for you to play. It really has a nice balance. And as we said, we simply could not drop back into the negative once we got ahead.
At Stakers, we give the game five out of five stars. That's a very unusual rating for us, but we strongly feel this game deserves it.
It's very fun. It has random elements that shake things up. It's not too low variance or too high variance. We honestly can't imagine the game being better designed. It all comes together as the perfect play package.
We strongly recommend it to anyone who wants to just kick back, have fun and play a spot-on game. Whether you have a big bankroll or just want to play for a little bit, you'll love Caveman Bob.
