If you follow the comic book industry at all, you know that Batman is a big name in the game. But real fans are actually fans of the Joker, his arch nemesis. Darkly comical and unpredictable, the Joker seems to devise evermore insane ways to thwart the good intentions of the Dark Knight.
This is a very rough guide to your understanding of the inspiration behind The Dark Joker Rizes, a slot game from the innovators at Yggdrasil. Because while this slot game's logo makes the DC Comic's Joker the obvious character here, the gameplay itself doesn't really reference him – perhaps other than the grinning flaming skulls in the reel grid's frame design.
Otherwise, the slot machine is pretty standard – not that that's a bad thing! As we have come to expect from Yggdrasil, it's a beautifully designed experience. The five-by-three reels feature symbols such as grape clusters, flaming bells, chocolate covered cherries, and glowing stars and sevens. There is also a thing that looks like a radioactive lime with a stitched-in mean face, but if it looks like something else to you, that's probably fine.
The reels have 10 pay lines: five from right to left, and five from left to right. There is also a flaming Joker symbol that serves as a wild card, called a Mystery Win. Depending on how many Jokers appear – no matter their position on the reels – you can win from 1,000 to 6,000 coins with your Mystery Win.
There's a Jokerizer Mode as well, which is triggered by the stars and sevens, with 100 to 300 coins for a win.
